TAXI TUNNEL
Taxi Tunnel is an immersive installation that traces the historical evolution of New York City through one of its most emblematic figures: the taxi cab. Through salvaged taxi lights from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, combined with moving images and urban soundscapes, the work constructs a sensory narrative of the city’s transformation over time.
The installation guides viewers through successive urban eras, evoking shifts in social behavior, public safety, and technological mediation. The illuminated signage functions as both sculptural object and historical marker, situating the taxi as a global symbol of a city in perpetual motion. The work reflects on memory, mobility, and the infrastructural rhythms that shape metropolitan life.
