THE STREET IS IN THE HOUSE

The Street Is in the House is an urban sculpture series that relocates emblematic elements of New York City’s street life into domestic and exhibitionary environments. Police barricades become table bases, taxi signs are transformed into lamps, newspaper dispensers become aquariums, and vending machines operate as reflexive sculptural objects.

Through these transformations, the series constructs contemporary dioramas that reflect on the cultural hybridity of metropolitan life. The work dismantles hierarchies between design, art, and infrastructure, employing a visual language grounded in hybridity, irony, and formal elegance. The project proposes the metropolis as both megacity and village, foregrounding how collective identity is shaped through everyday objects mediating between control, utility, and desire.
